KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Kuwait by seven wickets at the eight match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Finals held at the Indian Association Ground in Singapore on Saturday.
Chasing the 142-run target set by Kuwait, Nepal reached the target in 15.5 overs, losing three wickets. Skipper Paras Khadka top-scored with 68 runs studded with 11 fours and one six off 42 balls. Sarad Vesawkar made 38 runs including four fours and one six off 30 balls while Gyanendra Malla contributed 19 runs off 13 balls.
In reply, Kuwait’s Muhammad Kashif took three wickets of Nepal.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Kuwait had notched up 141 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing nine wickets.
Muhammad Kashif made highest 49 runs including two fours and four sixes off 36 balls and remained not out. Likewise, Adnan Idrees collected 25 runs including 5 fours off 14 balls while MNM Aslam made 23 runs including two fours off 25 balls.
In reply, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane and Basant Regmi grabbed three wickets each of Kuwait giving away 21 and 20 runs respectively, while Karan KC and Abinash Bohara took two and one wicket respectively.
