Nepal Police prepares tight security for Maha Shivaratri festivities

A team of 3,072 security personnel will be deployed in shifts throughout the Pashupatinath Temple area.



KATHMANDU: With the Maha Shivaratri celebrations at Pashupatinath Temple fast approaching, Nepal Police has unveiled its robust security plans to ensure a safe and peaceful event for all attendees.

Dinesh Raj Mainali, spokesperson for Kathmandu Valley Police Office, outlined the measures put in place to maintain order during the festival, scheduled for Friday.

Starting from now until March 9, the police will be keeping a close eye on proceedings using a variety of modern techniques, including drones, CCTV surveillance, and mobile patrols.

These efforts aim to proactively monitor the situation and prevent any potential security issues.

In addition, an ambulance with medical personnel will be on standby to handle any emergencies that may arise during the celebrations.
