Police arrest official accused of facilitating fake citizenship for gold smuggling suspect Dawa Chhiring



KATHMANDU: Police nab official facilitating gold smuggling accused Belgian national Dawa Chhiring to obtain citizenship through fake documents.

Dawa is in detention in 60 kg gold smuggling case.

According to DSP Rajkumar Shrestha, the Makwanpur police has taken into custody Ramchandra Aryal, currently serving at the Bagmati Province Secretariat in Hetauda, Makwanpur.

At the time of incident, Aryal was working at the District Administration Office in Kavre.

Aryal allegedly verified Dawa as Nima Tamang using fraudulent documents.

Chiring, a Belgian national, had used the name Nima Tamang during the citizenship issuance in Kavre on January 4, 2018.

Dawa Chiring is currently serving a sentence in Jagannath Dewal based Central Jail for his involvement in the gold smuggling case.
