KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav is grappling with mounting pressure from within the party, urging him to refrain from participating in the newly-formed alliance.

Yadav has yielded to the majority of MPs and executive members who have issued threats of rebellion in response to his stance.

Sources reveal that during the executive meeting convened to finalize the ministerial selection, a significant number of MPs and executive members expressed concerns over the potential loss of control in the state government leadership.

They argued that securing a vote of confidence for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda would become challenging.

A source stated, “The decision on whether to join the coalition government remains unresolved.”

Party leaders are intensifying their efforts to dissuade support for the alliance, asserting that Upendra is driven by a desire for the deputy prime ministership.
