KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged for unity among revolutionary communists for the benefit of the country and its people.

He emphasized this during an interaction on ‘peace process, republic, and today’s politics’ organized by the Sahid Pratisthan Nepal (Martyr Foundation Nepal) in Kathmandu.

As the Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center, PM Dahal mentioned ongoing efforts for a broader communist unity, extending beyond the Socialist Front, to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs.

Describing Maoism as a dynamic force, he stated, “Maoism is not stagnant but a flowing river in terms of ideology and practice. Maoism is transformative and creates new circumstances.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the last day of the Martyr’s Week, stating that it marked a break in continuity, and shared that efforts were underway to bring revolutionaries together for a more extensive communist unity.

He noted the challenges faced by revolutionary forces, emphasizing their resilience and commitment to progress despite encirclement attempts.

PM Dahal announced that the martyrs of the People’s War have been declared national martyrs, and he expressed the commitment to declare the remaining martyrs as well.

During the event, he declared plans to conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process and address issues like reparation, employment, and benefits for the families of martyrs and disappeared individuals.

Netra Bikram Chand, General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party, highlighted the establishment of the federal democratic republic on the foundation of the People’s War and the People’s Movement.

He stressed the need to combat any tendency negating the People’s War.

Leaders from various political parties spoke on the importance of fulfilling the dreams of the martyrs during the program presided over by Dharmashila Chapagai, Chairperson of the Sahid Pratisthan.

The CPN-Maoist Center and other Maoist factions observed Fagun 14 to 21 of the Nepali calendar as the Martyr’s Week.
