KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ conducted discussions today with officials from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to assess the advancements in the national pride projects.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, Ministry Secretary Keshav Sharma, various departmental heads, and joint-secretaries attended the meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
During the consultation, PM Dahal mentioned his regular monitoring of national pride projects and instructed officials to implement measures that hold project chiefs accountable in case of cost increases.
He sought updates from Ministry officials on the progress of the North-South (Koshi Corridor) Khandbari-Kimathanka Road Project, the Kaligandaki Corridor, and the Karnali Corridor road projects.
Secretary Sharma reported that the physical progress of the Koshi Corridor Project was at 32 percent, with a corresponding financial progress of 32 percent.
He highlighted that road construction was advancing.
Regarding the North-South (Kaligandaki Corridor), Sharma stated a 63 percent physical progress and 55.7 percent economic progress.
However, the expected progress faced limitations due to resource management constraints.
For the North-South (Karnali Corridor) Road Project, Secretary Sharma informed the PM that both physical and financial progress were satisfactory.
PM Dahal acknowledged encouraging progress since the republic’s inception, emphasizing the need to communicate these achievements effectively to the public through proper channels.
He addressed the sense of despondency despite notable development over the last 15 years and emphasized the importance of providing accurate information to the public.
Directing Minister Jwala, the PM urged a high priority for development projects and emphasized creating an environment where project chiefs work directly at project sites.
PM Dahal emphasized, “We should all prioritize development project works. The cost of projects has escalated due to delays in government, ministry, and project-related tasks. I urge you all to work diligently to rectify such issues.”
