PM Dahal calls for nationwide campaign to spread Buddha’s teachings

KAPILVASTU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized the importance of a nationwide awareness campaign to disseminate the teachings of Buddha.

Speaking at the 15th Senate of Lumbini Buddhist University, of which he serves as Chancellor, PM Dahal highlighted the need for collaboration among various communities and educational institutions to promote peace and spread knowledge about Buddha’s philosophy and culture.

PM Dahal underscored the significance of Nepal’s rich Buddhist tradition, dating back to historical times, as a valuable subject for study by sociologists and humanists.

He urged the university to initiate new initiatives for the protection and promotion of Buddhist culture and philosophy.

Describing Nepal as a holy and peaceful destination with a rich heritage of meditation and civilizational contributions, PM Dahal expressed his belief that Nepal is a center of global faith.

He emphasized the economic potential of linking Buddhist heritage, culture, art, and monasteries to the country’s prosperity.

PM Dahal highlighted the diverse Buddhist heritage spread across Nepal, from Olangchungola to Tinker, with the Kathmandu Valley holding particular importance.

He stressed the need for appropriate protection, promotion, and publicity of these cultural treasures to attract tourists.

PM Dahal also discussed the exchange of Nepali students with foreign universities and encouraged Lumbini Buddhist University to lead in developing Buddhist narratives and practices globally.

Recognizing the devotion of over 520 million Buddhists worldwide, PM Dahal emphasized the importance of promoting Buddhist faith, especially in the face of globalization’s influence on the education sector.
