Speaker Ghimire directs govt to respond to opposition queries on March 4

KATHMANDU: Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire has issued a directive to the government, instructing it to address the queries raised by opposition parties on March 4.

Opposition parties have been vocal in seeking answers regarding the Balkumari incident, as well as the concerns of agitating farmers and victims of loan sharking and microfinances.

In a previous session, Speaker Ghimire had similarly directed the government, but Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was absent from Friday’s parliamentary meeting.

Lawmakers from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, along with the CPN-UML, insisted on PM Dahal’s presence, asserting that the meeting could not proceed without him.

In response to the obstruction by opposition parties, Speaker Ghimire has mandated the government to address the questions posed by opposition members in the forthcoming parliamentary session scheduled for March 4.
