Newly-elected NA members to be sworn in today



KATHMANDU: Newly-elected candidates to the National Assembly (NA) in the election held on January 25 are set to take their oath today, marking the official commencement of their terms.

Among the members are Krishna Sitaula of Nepali Congress from Koshi Province, Rukmini Koirala of CPN-UML, Puja Chaudhary of Janata Samajwadi Party, and Ananda Dhungana of Nepali Congress from Madhes.

Likewise, other lawmakers include Bishnu Devi Pudasaini and Jitjung Basnet of Nepali Congress from Bagmati; Shree Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Maoist Center, and Ghanshyam Rizal of Unified Socialist, along with Manrupa Sharma of Maoist from Gandaki.

Additionally, Padma Bahadur Pariyar and Kiran Babu Shrestha of Nepali Congress are among those taking the oath.

Other members taking the oath include Bishnu Kumari Sapkota of Nepali Congress and Jhakku Prasad Subedi of Maoist Center from Lumbini; Sabitri Malla of Unified Socialist from Karnali, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma and Krishna Bahadur Rokai of Maoist Center, and Baldev Bohara of Nepali Congress from Sudurpaschim Province.

The newly-elected National Assembly members comprise 8 members from UML, 4 from Congress, 3 from Maoist, 2 from the Unified Socialist Party, and one each from JSP, nominated, and independent candidates.

The former Speaker of the National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, and 20 other MPs, including those elected earlier, concluded their terms yesterday. earlier, is slated to conclude on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly is gearing up for the election of a new Speaker, as the current position is set to be vacant from March 3.

The election to fill this role is scheduled for March 12.
