KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-Maoist Center has designated leaders to oversee the party’s activities in various provinces.
In a Standing Committee (SC) meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Parisdanda, the responsibilities for province in-charges and co-in-charges were finalized.
Haribol Gajurel has been appointed as the Koshi Province in-charge, with Sabitra Kumar Kafle serving as the co-in-charge. Leelamani Pokharel will oversee Madhes Province, assisted by Bishow Nath Shah as co-in-charge.
Agni Prasad Sapkota, the Party Vice-Chairperson and Spokesperson, will lead as Bagmati Province in-charge, while Dinanath Sharma will take charge in Gandaki Province, supported by Hariraj Adhikari as co-in-charge.
Chakrapani Khanal will serve as the Lumbini Province in-charge, with Kul Prasad KC as co-in-charge. Kali Bahadur Malla has been designated as Karnali Province’s in-charge.
Furthermore, Girirajmani Pokharel will oversee Sudurpaschim Province, with Bina Magar as the co-in-charge, as announced by Spokesperson Sapkota.
Additionally, Pampha Bhusal has been appointed as the in-charge of the Prabash Province Committee (Middle East), while Laxman Panta will oversee India affairs, assisted by TB Pathak as co-in-charge. Surendra Kumar Karki will lead the Europe-America Committee.
Hitman Shakya has been selected as the in-charge of the Special Province Committee, while Yesodha Subedi will serve as co-in-charge. The appointments for co-in-charges in some provinces are yet to be finalized, Spokesperson Sapkota informed.
The meeting also addressed the postponement of the Terai Madhes National Awareness Campaign, rescheduling it from March 14 to March 28 due to insufficient preparation time.
Additionally, the Himal-Pahad-Terai (Mountain-Hill-Terai) National Unity campaign will be launched on April 27.
Moreover, the meeting discussed various contemporary political issues, including concerns regarding loan shark victims and dairy farmers, urging the government to resolve them promptly, Sapkota added.
However, Deputy General-Secretary Janardan Sharma expressed dissent during the Standing Committee meeting, questioning the proposed division of responsibilities.
Sharma argued that the allocation of responsibilities did not align with the party’s objectives and seemed influenced by the legislative session’s aftermath.
