Patan High Court issues interim order halting eviction of NRNA office in Lalita Niwas

KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has issued an interim order preventing the Kathmandu Metropolitan City from vacating the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) office located in the Lalita Niwas premises in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

A single bench of Judge Purushottam Dhakal of the High Court, issued an interim order on Monday preventing the Metropolis from evacuating the NRNA office.

Earlier, following the verdict of the Special Court, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City had issued a notice to the NRNA to vacate the central office building.

Upon receiving the writ from the NRNA, the High Court, in sequential order, has granted relief to the NRNA, providing an order.

The Special Court had decided that the structures, including the said building, constructed on government land, would be confiscated.

However, the complete text of the decision by the Special Court has not yet been received.

Despite the decision by the Special Court, the option of appealing to the Supreme Court still remains for the defendants.
