Pakistan says it will send its first man to space in 2022

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced on Thursday that it is sending its first astronaut to space in 2022.

According to reports, Pakistan will use China’s satellite launching facilities. The decision to this effect came soon after India launched its second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 on Monday.

Pakistan’s Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, informed that they would start the selection process of the astronaut from February 2020.

According to him, 50 people will be shortlisted, which will then come down to 25 in 2022 and finally only one among them will be selected.

Minister Chaudhry said that the Pakistani Air Force will play a key role in the selection process. (Agencies)
