Good governance forms the foundation of socialism: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has aArticulated that the pursuit of good governance, social justice, and prosperity embodies the essence of socialism.

Addressing a program here on Friday, PM Dahal underscored that good governance is fundamental to socialism, emphasizing that controlling corruption is imperative for establishing good governance.

He asserted, “Socialism remains unattainable unless the rights of the poor and peasants are addressed.”

Furthermore, PM Dahal emphasized the principle of fair wages proportional to one’s work, highlighting the interconnectedness of good governance, social justice, and the journey toward prosperity.

PM Dahal attributed the country’s transition to a federal democratic republic to the unity of workers, correct ideologies, and effective leadership.

He urged the audience to perceive the achievements in various aspects of inclusion—such as the rights of women, indigenous peoples, Madhesis, and Muslims—rather than dwelling on the sacrifices made during various movements.

Stressing the pivotal role of workers and peasants in the socialist revolution, PM Dahal urged them to maintain clarity in their thoughts.

He warned against reactionary forces attempting to challenge the achievements of the federal democratic republic, calling for collective efforts to thwart such challenges.

Regarding the backlog of transitional justice, PM Dahal expressed confidence that addressing it through legislation would ensure reparations and respect for the victims of the conflict.

He reassured that a law would be enacted to address transitional justice issues, thereby paving the way for reconciliation and healing.
