KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley experienced a significant drop in its minimum temperature due to Thursday’s precipitation and subsequent atmospheric changes.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Valley plummeted to 3.8 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Friday), showcasing a notable decrease from the 8.5 degrees Celsius recorded just yesterday (Thursday).
Comparatively, the minimum temperature today is approximately 5 degrees Celsius lower than that of Thursday, leaving Kathmandu residents feeling a distinct chill in the morning air.
Thursday was marked by cloudy and rainy conditions, but the skies have cleared since this morning, according to the Division.
This change in weather patterns is the primary reason behind the decrease in the valley’s minimum temperature today, it said.
Weather forecasts suggest a continuation of cloud cover with the possibility of rain and snow in various regions across the country today.
Anticipating the day’s weather outlook, Nagarkoti projected a maximum temperature for Kathmandu Valley ranging between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
The prolonged cloud cover could lead to a decrease, while clearer conditions might result in an increase.
According to the Division, no rainfall is expected in the Valley today.
