KATHMANDU: The Mahasamiti meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) is concluding today.
The four-day meeting that started on Monday at Godavari in Lalitpur featured discussions on five reports presented on Tuesday.
The group discussions on the reports concluded on Wednesday, and suggestions were collected from three separate halls.
According to Min Bishwakarma, the head of the party’s information, communication, and publicity department, 110 people in Godavari Hall, 95 in Bisankhunarayan Hall, and 90 in another hall provided valuable inputs.
Province presidents of the party will present these suggestions in today’s meeting along with other leaders.
Following this, party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, and General Secretary Gagan Thapa are scheduled to address the queries and conclude the meeting this afternoon.
The second day of the General Committee meeting saw the presentation of five reports, each focusing on different aspects of the party’s functioning.
NC Vice President Khadka presented policy matters, General Secetary Gagan Thapa organizational report, Bishwaprakash Sharma contemporary politics, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat presented an economic audit report, and Audit Committee Coordinator Shyam Kumar Ghimire delved into the prospects and future direction of Nepal.
During the discussions, Mahasamiti members shared their perspectives on various issues.
Key points included the call for an active role in implementing the constitution, adherence to the party constitution, empowerment to strengthen the provincial structure, and leadership to defend the republican system.
Additionally, they emphasized the need to revitalize the party organization, foster fraternal and benevolent organizations, connect with social movements for justice, and promote modern agricultural systems, among others.
The Mahasamiti meeting, attended by more than two thousand delegates from across the country, has been a platform for comprehensive discussions on the party’s strategies and future direction.
