KATHMANDU: Tek Narayan Pandey, the former secretary allegedly involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, has petitioned the Supreme Court seeking a writ for the validation of his arrest.

The Supreme Court has issued an order to present the reasons behind the arrest.

Pandey’s writ, filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, was heard at a single bench with Justice Nahakul Subedi on Wednesday.

In connection to the Bhutanese refugee case, the district court had already validated an order to remand Pandey in custody until the final hearing on the case.

The High Court also endorsed the District Court’s order, sending Pandey to jail for his alleged role in fraudulent activities related to fake Bhutanese refugees.

Pandey, the Secretary at the Office of the Vice President, was arrested on May 3, 2023, on charges of being involved in illegally sending Nepalis as Bhutanese refugees to the USA.
