PM Dahal vows action on microfinance and cooperative issues

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has committed to taking proactive steps to resolve the challenges facing microfinance institutions and cooperatives.

In a meeting with representatives of individuals affected by troubled microfinance and cooperatives at Singha Durbar today, the Prime Minister assured that the government would address these pressing issues.

Recognizing the vital role played by cooperatives and microfinances in providing financial services to rural and marginalized communities, the Prime Minister acknowledged that these sectors have recently encountered significant difficulties.

He attributed these challenges to both contextual factors and instances of malpractice by certain members of the board of directors.

“The problems will be tackled gradually,” stated the Prime Minister, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to overcome these obstacles.

During the discussions, the representatives expressed gratitude to the government for its efforts thus far in alleviating the situation.
