NEPSE records modest decline on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a slight decline on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week.

The Nepali stockmarket index dropped by 7.6 points, settling at 2,033.06 today.

In today’s trading, a total of 9,342,546 shares of 314 companies were bought and sold, resulting in a business turnover of Rs 3,113,556000.

The sub-indices of various groups showed mixed performances.

The Development Bank Group sub-index decreased by 0.25 points, the Finance Group by 0.72, the Investment Group by 0.18, the Production and Processing Group by 0.71, and the Other Group increased by 1.10 percent.

All other sub-indices registered declines.

The Banking Group decreased by 42, Hotel and Tourism Group by 18, Hydroelectricity Group by 31, Life Insurance Group by 41, Microfinance by 74, Mutual Funds by 5, Non-Life Insurance by 3, and Trading Group by 35 percent.

Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited and Samaj Microfinance Limited are in the positive circuit, while Greenlife Hydro Power Limited has hit the negative circuit.

In terms of business volume, Himalayan Insurance Limited conducted the highest turnover, with a business of Rs 317,370,998 based on the number of shares traded.

On a share quantity basis, Prabhu Select Fund has the highest with 529,731 shares transacted.
