PM Dahal affirms Nepal’s commitment to peace and equality on global stage



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ reiterated Nepal’s steadfast dedication to peace and equality, asserting its prominent role as an advocate for global harmony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of exercise “Shanti Prayas IV” at the Army Officer’s Club in Bhadrakali this morning, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized Nepal’s significant contributions to UN peace operations, with the nation currently providing the highest number of troops and police personnel among all UN member countries.

He further pledged Nepal’s commitment to deploy up to ten thousand well-trained and equipped personnel for UN peace operations upon the UN’s request.

Highlighting Nepal’s exceptional participation of women troops in UN peacekeeping missions, Prime Minister Dahal reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for UN peace operations, promising to prioritize and bolster these efforts.

PM Dahal underscored Nepal’s advocacy for peace and equality in international forums, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to disarmament and peaceful conflict resolution.

He praised Nepali peacekeepers for their bravery, compassion, and selflessness in protecting and restoring hope in conflict-ridden regions worldwide.

Acknowledging the evolving challenges faced by peacekeepers in today’s complex global landscape, PM Dahal stressed the importance of continually refining strategies and building strong partnerships among nations for the successful conduct of peacekeeping operations.

He extended a warm welcome to all delegates and friends from foreign countries gathered in Kathmandu, honoring the brave peacekeepers who have made ultimate sacrifices in pursuit of global peace.

PM Dahal also commended the dedication of all peacekeepers, whose contributions have been instrumental in maintaining global peace and stability.

Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Nepali Army for hosting the event, PM Dahal appreciated the support of the US Indo-Pacific Command – Global Peace Operations Initiative for co-sponsoring the event.

Concluding his remarks, PM Dahal emphasized Nepal’s commitment to preparing credible peacekeepers through regular training and participation in multinational peacekeeping exercises, underscoring the nation’s enduring dedication to promoting peace and equality on the global stage.
