KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba asserted that Falgun 7, 2007 BS marked the genesis of the dream of prosperity and laid the groundwork for inclusiveness, intertwining nationalism and democracy.

These developments, spanning 46 years and the 2062-063 BS movement, set Nepal on the path to federalism and republicanism, he said.

Extending wishes to all Nepalis on the day that signifies the commencement of modern Nepali history under the Congress’s leadership, NC President Deuba emphasized the historical significance of the people’s revolution.

This movement, he stated, brought an end to the 104-year dictatorship of the Rana regime and established democracy in the nation.

Deuba highlighted that beyond the political transformation, the revolution ushered in progressive changes across economic, social, cultural, and educational domains.

“Nepal transitioned from a medieval feudal state, and the bedrock of robust nationalism alongside democracy was laid on that momentous day,” noted Deuba in his message.

Expressing his conviction that Democracy Day would serve as an inspiration for all, Deuba called on everyone to construct an egalitarian society rooted in democratic customs, culture, values, and beliefs.

He underscored the importance of maintaining institutional stability in Nepal’s constitution and the federal democratic republican governance system, guiding the nation towards economic development.
