Democracy Day being celebrated across country

KATHMANDU: The 74th National Democracy Day is being celebrated today by organizing a variety of programs across the country.

A special program is being held at Tundikhel in the federal capital city, Kathmandu.

The day is observed in commemoration of 7th Falgun, 2007 BS when democracy was established in Nepal after the end of the 104-year-old autocratic Rana rule.

Since 2008 BS, it has become a tradition for the main ceremony committee to organize a special ceremony at the Sainik Manch every year.

The government has appealed to all for a special three-day celebration on February 19, 20 and 21.

Illumination will also be held in the evening for three days.
