RAUTAHAT: The local administration has issued a curfew order effective from 5 PM today in Ishanath Municipality of Rautahat.
The decision comes after a clash erupted between two communities on February 15, related to the disposal of the Saraswati idol of Saraswatipuja.
The communal dispute led to heated altercations in a meeting called to ‘settle’ the issue, resulting in the injuries of half a dozen locals.
The District Administration Office, Rautahat, imposed a curfew from 5 PM today in various areas of Ishanath Municipality.
The affected areas include Jokaha in the east, Sano-Jokaha in west, Ramapurkhap in the north, Armed Police Force Base Camp in the south.
Hiralal Regmi, the Chief District Officer of Rautahat, informed that the curfew order has been issued indefinitely due to the uncertainty of the situation in the region.
The curfew prohibits movements, assemblies, rallies, and demonstrations in the specified areas, as stated in the information released by the District Administration Office, Rautahat.
