KATHMANDU: Mahesh Bartaula, the whip of the CPN-UML, has demanded the resignation of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, in connection with the Balkumari Incident.

The incident, which occurred on Poush 13, resulted in the tragic death of two youths during a clash between agitating EPS Korean Language students and police personnel.

An investigation commission formed to probe the case has held Minister Jwala responsible for the escalation of the incident.

On that day, Minister Jwala used the road where the protest was taking place, leading to the torching of his vehicle and the subsequent violent turn of the protest.

Expressing his stance on social media, Bartaula emphasized that Minister Jwala should be removed from his post and legal proceedings initiated against him immediately, in light of the commission’s findings.

The commission has submitted its detailed report to the government on Friday following a thorough investigation into the matter.
