Namibia dominates as Nepal stumbles to 132 all out in ICC CWC League 2 opener

KATHMANDU: In a thrilling showdown marking the opening match of the ICC CWC League 2, Nepal set a target of 133 runs for Namibia to secure victory.

Namibia’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground proved strategic, as they successfully contained Nepal to a total of 132 runs, with all wickets falling in 41.1 overs.

Nepal’s innings was marred by an early setback, losing three crucial wickets within the first four overs of the match.

Kushal Bhurtel’s dismissal for a duck in the opening over was swiftly followed by Anil Shah’s departure after scoring eight runs in the second over.

Aasif Sheikh’s departure in the fourth over, after contributing four runs, further compounded Nepal’s woes.

Captain Rohit Poudel managed only one run before being dismissed, while Bhim Sharki and Kushal Malla provided some resistance with contributions of 44 and 15 runs respectively.

The middle order chipped in as well, with Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Pawan Saraf, and Karan KC adding two, 21, 12, and 16 runs respectively to the team’s total.

As the match progresses, Namibia now faces the challenge of chasing down Nepal’s target to secure victory in this highly anticipated opener of the league.
