Majority leaders opt for direct elections and inclusive representation in Maoist Center

In the ongoing CPN-Maoist Center’s Statute Convention, the process of presenting proposals for discussion has been initiated today. Among the various 20 groups, 13 groups have presented proposals today, and 7 groups will present their proposals tomorrow in the meeting scheduled at 11 am. In the proposal submission sequence, Kanchan Khanal has suggested electing representatives for the general convention from the local committees, and assigning representatives of martyrs, disappeared, disabled, and marginalized members as supervisors in the general convention.

Internal democracy and compliance with rules must prevail: CEC Thapaliya

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has emphasized the necessity of establishing internal democracy within political parties and maintaining governance to ensure the legitimacy of the election process. Speaking at Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, Thapaliya expressed dissatisfaction with ongoing internal disputes and raised various concerns within political parties, emphasizing the need for internal democracy to be aligned with the principles of democratic governance.

NC steps up preparations for Mahasamiti Meeting

The Nepali Congress (NC) has heightened its preparations for the Mahasamiti meeting scheduled to be held in Godavari, Lalitpur, from February 19 to 22. The Mahasamiti’s Publicity Subcommittee held a press conference on Wednesday at the party headquarters in Sanepa, underscoring the expedited preparations for the meeting. Min Bahadur Bishwakarma, the chief of the party’s publicity department, revealed that approximately 56 pages of policy proposals encompassing economic, social, religious, cultural, and political subjects would be presented to the Mahasamiti.

Civilian grievance against government has surged: Gagan Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary and lawmaker, Gagan Thapa, has disclosed a significant rise in public grievances towards the government. Addressing reporters in Chitwan, Thapa highlighted his direct exposure to citizens’ grievances during the ongoing dialogue tour. Thapa emphasized that despite the government’s emphasis on crucial issues like governance, service delivery, and constitution-building, the failure to implement these aspects has led to a notable increase in public frustration.

CPN-UML calls Secretariat meeting to discuss political issues

The CPN-UML has called a meeting of the Secretariat to discuss pressing political matters. Central Office Secretary, Dr. Bhishma Adhikari, said that the meeting is scheduled to take place at the party’s central office in Chyasal on Thursday afternoon. Dr. Adhikari stated that the primary purpose of the Secretariat meeting is to facilitate the organization of a Central Committee meeting and engage in discussions on key political issues.

ICC Men’s CWC League 2: Nepal re-announces squad with two changes

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has renounced Nepali squad to participate in upcoming ICC Men’s CWC League 2. Nepal is set to host the ICC Men’s CWC League 2 from February 15th to February 25th at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. Earlier, the CAN had announced the team and fixtures of the match but after the recently held Bilateral ODI Series against Canada, CAN has made some changes in Nepali squad.

The Nepali government has finalized a roster of 35 public holidays to be observed in 2081 BS, catering to various festivals, special days, and memorial occasions. The Home Ministry recently disclosed the comprehensive list of public and festival holidays designated for the year 2081 BS.
