Saraswati Puja: Temples draw devotees (In pics)

KATHMANDU: On the auspicious day of Magh Shukla Panchami, the celebration of the Shree Panchami” festival took place on Wednesday, with devotees devoutly worshipping Goddess Saraswati.

The sacred occasion drew crowds, particularly students, to revered temples such as Swayambhu in the Kathmandu Valley, Maitidevi and Neelasaraswati in Garidhara, and Lele in Lalitpur, as well as other districts.

Pilgrims and students alike began their spiritual journey to Swayambhu in Kathmandu early in the morning to pay homage to Goddess Saraswati.

Saraswati, the embodiment of learning, knowledge, art, and music, is described in scriptures as adorned in white attire, with a fair complexion, a smiling countenance, and embellished with ornaments crafted from the finest gems.

In her four hands, she holds a veena, a book, a garland of crystals, and displays the “abhaya mudra”.

The celebration marks the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, observed as Basanta Panchami.

The worship of Goddess Saraswati, the repository of knowledge, is believed to usher in blessings of wisdom, eloquence, and fame.

Furthermore, a religious belief persists that offering seven grains to Saraswati ignites knowledge and wisdom.
