KATHMANDU: Saraswati Puja, the worship of the goddess of knowledge, is being observed across the country today.

It falls on Shukla Panchami of the Nepali month, which marks the beginning of the spring season. Hence, it is also known as Basanta Panchami.

Students have thronged various Saraswati temples across the country to worship the Saraswati goddess for her blessings.

There is a religious belief that if students worship the Saraswati goddess, they will get success in their studies. Saraswati is regarded as the goddess of knowledge, music, arts, and literature.

Today is also considered an auspicious day for teaching the alphabet to beginners.
