Judge Acharya transferred to Mugu following release order for Arun Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: Judge Yagya Prasad Acharya of the Kathmandu District Court, who gained controversy for ordering the release of businessman Arun Chaudhary amidst a land dispute involving the Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory, has been transferred.

Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha executed the transfer, relocating Judge Acharya to the Mugu District Court as of yesterday.

The order by Judge Acharya mandated the release of Chaudhary if the investigation into the land case was not completed within two days.

Reacting to this unprecedented decision, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha labeled it as the first strange order in judicial history, emphasizing the urgency imposed by the two-day timeframe for automatic release if the investigation was not concluded.
