PM reaffirms strong support for CIAA in tackling corruption

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has affirmed the government’s steadfast commitment to fully back and collaborate with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in its endeavors to probe and address corruption cases. During a program commemorating the 33rd foundation day of the CIAA, Prime Minister Dahal acknowledged the role the Commission has played in curbing and addressing corruption across various incidents of varying magnitudes.

Reporting from 10 provinces to conclude today, discussion on Maoist Center statutes draft on Monday

The CPN-Maoist Center’s central committee meeting witnessed reporting of activities from 10 provincial committees on Sunday. Until their tiffin break at 3 pm today, eight provincial committees had submitted their reports. The central committee meeting will continue tomorrow. According to Maoist Center Secretary and lawmaker Devendra Paudel, 409 central members are participating in this meeting.

NC summons Central Working Committee meeting on February 15

The Nepali Congress (NC) has announced the convening of a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Thursday. The CWC meeting is scheduled for February 15, as stated by the NC Central Office Secretariat. The primary agenda of the meeting is to deliberate on the upcoming Mahasamiti meeting, set to occur from February 19 to 22. The venue for the CWC meeting will be the central office situated in Lalitpur.

Govt won’t back down from Bansbari land encroachment issue: DPM Shrestha

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has stated that the government will not step back from the Bansbari land encroachment case involving a 10-ropani plot of then Bansbari Shoe Factory. In response to questions raised by parliamentarians in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the federal parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha made this declaration.

Nepal deports 459 foreign nationals in 2023

Nepal deported 459 foreign nationals for various reasons, as revealed in discussions on immigration during the meeting of the parliamentary State Affairs Committee in 2023. A meeting of the Committee held at Singha Durbar analyzed materials presenting this data, emphasizing the need for stringent immigration measures. This marks a decrease from the previous year, with 570 foreign nationals deported in 2022.

Gold price down by Rs 500 per tola today

Gold price decreased by Rs 500 per tola in the Nepali market today. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has been fixed at Rs 118,000 per tola and standard gold is traded at Rs 117,450 per tola. The precious yellow metal was valued at Rs. 118,500 per tola, and standard gold at Rs. 117,950 per tola on Friday.
