Prime Minister Dahal highlights focus on production and employment in upcoming budget

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized that the budget for the fiscal year 2024/25 will prioritize increasing production and generating employment.

Speaking at the 8th Nuwakot Festival, PM Dahal clarified that the budget would be crafted with a focus on boosting agricultural production.

He mentioned that steps have been taken to bring about ‘significant’ changes in the national budget system, assuring an overhaul of the traditional budget system.

PM Dahal stated that the government is currently seeking suggestions from all sectors on policies, programs, and budgets.

Assuring progress in the budget preparation process, he promised that the upcoming budget would bring transformative changes to the country.

The Prime Minister pledged government support for the development of arts and culture, religious and historical sites, as well as the agricultural and tourism sectors.

He also committed attention to the reconstruction of the quake-damaged Nuwakot Palace.

On a different note, PM Dahal observed, “The country’s economy is gradually finding its rhythm. Economic indicators are positive, with increased Foreign Currency Reserves and tourist arrivals. These factors have contributed to bringing the national economy back on track, and revenue collection has also seen a recent surge.”
