Hetauda Cement Industry resumes operations after a three-and-a-half-month hiatus

MAKAWANPUR: Hetauda Cement Industry has recommenced cement production following a hiatus of three and a half months.

The plant had ceased production due to a shortage of coal essential for cement manufacturing.

Naveen Kumar Karna, Deputy General Manager of the industry, mentioned the industry’s struggle to procure coal amidst financial difficulties, which led to the recent purchase of 1,800 metric tons of coal, enabling the resumption of production.

With a daily requirement of 100 metric tons of coal, General Manager Basant Raj Pandey affirmed a steady coal supply, ensuring the industry’s continued operation.

However, the aging machinery has reduced the production capacity from 18,000 to 10,000 sacks of cement per day.

Since its commercial cement production debut in 2043, the industry has directly employed 150 individuals.

General Manager Pandey revealed ongoing negotiations with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies for the installation of new equipment and subsidies for essential raw material purchases, including coal.
