Nepali Congress leader Budhathoki passes away



KATHMANDU: Central member of the Nepali Congress and former minister, Keshav Kumar Budhathoki, passed away at the age of 80 last night while undergoing treatment in Biratnagar.

Budhathoki, a prominent leader and resident of Jhapa Arjundhara Municipality, affectionately known as the “Seto Bagh” (White Tiger), succumbed to complications arising from prostate cancer.

Despite battling the illness for an extended period, he recently faced additional health challenges related to kidney problems.

Nepali Congress General Minister Bishwaprakash Sharma expressed his condolences to the late leader Budhathoki through social media, acknowledging his significant contributions to the party and the nation.

Budhathoki served as a minister during both the Panchayat period and the democracy, holding key positions such as Minister of General Administration, Assistant Minister of Water Resources, Member of National Panchayat, Pradhan Pancha, and President of Jilla (District) Panchayat.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter.

The body of leader Budhathoki will be kept at the Jhapa district party office today, allowing friends, family, and well-wishers to pay their final respects.
