3,450 drug dealers arrested in six months



KATHMANDU: Police apprehended a total of 3,450 drug dealers over the past six months, marking a substantial effort to curb drug-related crimes.

Police reported that individuals involved in drug use, trafficking, and related offenses were targeted and arrested in the last six months.

During this period, police detained 2,758 men and 144 women, including 133 foreign male and 10 foreign women.

A total of 1,960 cases have been registered against the apprehended suspects.

The arrested individuals are allegedly engaged in the illicit transportation of various narcotics such as marijuana, hashish, heroin, opium, and cocaine.

Police also seized and destroyed 8,320 kg of marijuana, 380 kg of hashish, 10 kg of heroin, 27 kg of opium, and 3 kg of cocaine from these offenders during the same period, as reported by the news agency.

In a separate incident, three individuals were arrested with 285 kg of illegal marijuana from the IT Park Road of Panauti municipality-5.
