KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has instructed party lawmakers to actively advocate for the people’s interests in the Parliament.
During the CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary Party meeting at the parliamentary office this morning, Chairperson Dahal encouraged lawmakers to effectively present the party’s policies and highlight the government’s commendable initiatives in the Parliament.
“Maximum efforts have been made for good governance, social justice, and prosperity. The government has undertaken positive activities; these need to be strongly communicated in the Parliament,” emphasized Chairperson Dahal.
He informed attendees about the preparations for a result-oriented budget in the upcoming fiscal year, revealing that the federal government would not retain projects below Rs 30 million.
Stressing the importance of unity among alliance parties, Dahal stated, “The federal democratic republic is an achievement of political party initiatives, and there is no alternative but to protect and advance it collectively.”
The Prime Minister shared insights into the government’s new approach in formulating policies, programs, and the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, ensuring citizen and lawmaker involvement in the process.
Addressing ongoing legislative matters, PM Dahal mentioned efforts to gain consensus on the bills related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons.
He urged cooperation for a consensus-based passage and warned of alternative processes if needed.
During the meeting, party lawmakers underscored the importance of resolving the transitional justice issue in the parliament’s winter session, which commenced today.
Additionally, they recommended the government focus on job creation and agricultural sector promotion in the upcoming budget.
Lawmakers Janardan Sharma, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, and Suresh Ale were among those expressing their views during the session.
