NC General Secy Thapa advocates strengthened democracy as the only alternative

PARSA: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has emphasized the inevitability of strengthening democracy, considering it the sole alternative.

Speaking at the Silver Jubilee event organized by the Ankush Daily in Birgunj, Thapa conveyed his belief in the indispensable need for democratic reforms in the country.

Thapa underscored the importance of reform efforts not only within political parties but also at the highest echelons of leadership in all sectors.

He stated, “The necessity for reform exists among the top leaders of political parties, government officials, and even at the local level. Improvement in every sector is crucial for the overall development of the nation.”

While discussing the reform initiatives, Thapa highlighted the importance of concerted efforts from all individuals and communities to bring about fundamental and lasting changes in the country.

He emphasized that substantial reforms could only be achieved when everyone actively participates in the process.

Addressing challenges such as rising costs, unemployment, corruption, and regional disparities, Thapa argued that political practices that tarnish the democratic system need to be rectified.

He stressed the need for rebuilding public trust in the democratic system and bringing positive changes to citizens’ lives.

Thapa expressed concerns about efforts to tarnish the image of the democratic system for personal or political reasons.

He urged the media to play an active role in disseminating information about issues and challenges in various sectors, emphasizing that the communication sector could contribute significantly to creating awareness and promoting constructive change.

During the program, Thapa, along with other dignitaries, honored senior journalists Harihar Birahi, Ishwarchandra Gautam, and Kabir Rana for their notable contributions.

The event was presided over by Dipendra Chauhan, the Chief Editor of Ankush Daily.
