Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha expressed dissatisfaction with individuals with a political background being associated with corruption, emphasizing that leaders engaged in such activities create a commotion and discourage well-intentioned actions. Addressing the Gandaki Province-level security conference in Pokhara on Friday, Minister Shrestha conveyed his distress over individuals with political affiliations being implicated in corrupt practices. “If someone with a political background is found involved in corruption or wrongdoing, leaders will be held accountable—whether they belong to our party, alliance, or the opposition. This is unacceptable,” he said.

Illegal Land Deal Unveiled: Champions Footwear Company linked to Bansbari Leather Shoe land scandal

In a recent revela tion, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has uncovered a company named Champions Footwear, which was illicitly established to exploit gains from the Bansbari Leather Shoe land scandal. According to CIB, the company was created unlawfully by the then Chairman of the operating committee, Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa, with the intention of profiting from the Bansbari-based Leather Shoe Factory’s land controversy. The investigation further revealed that Champions Footwear entered into an agreement to acquire 25 percent ownership of the company’s capital, valued at 50 lakhs, under the pretext of producing Canvas Shoes.

Binod Chaudhary expresses concerns over Arun Chaudhary’s detention

The arrest of industrialist Arun Kumar Chaudhary by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) took center stage during the Nepali Congress parliamentary party meeting on Friday. Lawmaker Binod Chaudhary, Arun’s brother, participated in the meeting and shed light on Arun’s arrest and the potential repercussions. Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak shared post-meeting that Binod Chaudhary raised concerns about Arun’s arrest and discussed potential scenarios. “Binodji wanted to share his perspective. The party has not officially taken a stance, and leaders and lawmakers attentively listened,” explained Lekhak. According to sources within the Nepali Congress, Binod Chaudhary claimed that his brother Arun fell victim to a conspiracy.

The families revealed that some of those recruited in the Russian army are facing challenging circumstances, while a few have encountered unfortunate situations. UML Chair Oli advocates for mutual consent in bank interest rate increase

CPN-UML Chair KP Oli emphasized the necessity of requiring mutual consent for increasing bank interest rates. Speaking at the 7th National Convention of the Nepal Bank, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees’ Association at the UML Central Office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, Oli proposed regulations preventing unilateral changes in bank interest rates. Oli accused banks of unilaterally raising interest rates, stating that borrowers often face challenges when the interest on loans escalates to 10, 12, or even 14 percent. He urged for a change in interest rates only with the agreement of both lenders and borrowers, emphasizing that a bank’s role goes beyond collateral realization and lending.

The Human Organ Transplant Centre (HOTC), operating under the Ministry of Health and Population, has etched its name in history by accomplishing 1,200 successful kidney transplants over the last 11 years. This significant milestone was achieved with the recent kidney transplant, where a 34-year-old woman donated her kidney to her 39-year-old husband, marking the 1,200th successful kidney transplant, as confirmed by the Centre’s executive director and senior transplant surgeon, Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha.

Arun Chaudhary arrested after three months of in-depth probe: CIB

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has claimed that it apprehended three individuals, including businessman Arun Chaudhary, in connection with a case involving a land dispute at Bansbari Leather and Shoes Factory, following an exhaustive three-month investigation. CIB arrested businessman Arun Chaudhary and the former executive director of Bansbari Leather and Shoes Factory, Anit Narayan Thapa, among others, on Thursday. The Confederation of Nepali Industries (CNI) expressed concerns over Chaudhary’s arrest, terming it a tragic incident that could discourage industrialists.
