Knowing Arun Chaudhary: Arrested by CIB on embezzlement charges

KATHMANDU: Arun Chaudhary, the youngest among the three sons of Luna Karandas Chaudhary and brother of Nepal’s only billionaire, Binod Chaudhary, was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on charges of embezzling government property.

Arun, who previously held various roles within the Chaudhary Group, currently serves as the Chairman of CG Holding.

This holding company, under his ownership, has diversified investments, including the liquor industry and hotel business.

Among CG Holding’s ventures, Arun has stakes in the beer industry through Himalayan Brewery and Trishakti Distillery in Godavari.

Additionally, CG Holding has ventured into the hotel business by acquiring Tiger Land Resort in Chitwan, where Arun faces accusations of abuse of power and authority in the purchase of the nearly 60-year-old resort.

Operating the Meraki Wellness Retreat in Budhanilkantha and investing significantly in Hotel Vivanta in Sanepa, Arun has established himself as a prominent figure in the hotel and tourism sector.
