Chinese relief worker deported from Nepal for illegal stay in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Recent revelations indicate that a Chinese woman, engaged in providing relief during the November 2023 Jajarkot earthquake, was residing in Nepal without a valid visa, leading to her deportation.

Zhou Xichang, the chief director of the Chinese organization “China Foundation for Rural Development,” faced expulsion from Nepal for overstaying despite initially obtaining a visa.

The Immigration Department imposed a fine of 15,000 rupees on Xichang for the violation.

The Chinese woman arrived to assist those affected by the earthquake.

Her unlawful presence came to light, prompting authorities to take action against her.
