Police nab five allegedly involved in illegal drugs trafficking



KATHMANDU: Five individuals have been arrested with illegal drugs from various locations in the country.

According to Nepal Police Headquarters, Anita Baitha, a 19-year-old from Biratnagar-15, Morang, was apprehended with a substance resembling heroin, weighing 19.33 grams at Bank Road Chowk, Biratnagar.

She was intercepted by the Area Police Office, Rani, while entering Nepal on foot from India. The substance was discovered during a subsequent search.

An additional investigation revealed that Baitha derived the drugs from Saraswati Gurung -30 of Biratnagar 17, residing in Biratnagar-16, Burma Tol. Police seized a digital balance from Gurung.

Likewise, Chitra Kumar BK, 33, from Sanischare-4, Bakainodanda, Morang, was arrested with substances resembling brown sugar, approximately 25 grams, 5 mobile phones, and a digital scale. The arrest was made by the Area Police Office, Pathari.

Similarly, Smart Thebe -22, fromBudhasanti-5, was arrested from Mechinagar-6, Purano Mechi Pul Jhapa, while in possession of illegal drugs resembling brown sugar, approximately 1 grams.

Ajay Kumar Purbe Sud, 23, from Lahan-12, Bhutiyatol, Siraha, was arrested with substances resembling brown sugar, approximately 3 grams, a digital scale, and cash amounting to NPR 25,990. The arrest occurred at his residence in Bhutiyatol.

All the arrests were carried out by the respective Area Police Offices, and further investigations are underway.
