Mayor Balen Shah seeks clarification from Education Department official allegedly involved in forgery

KATHMANDU: Balendra Shah (Balen), the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has sought clarification from Sitaram Koirla, Chief of the Education Department, following allegations of forgery.

Mayor Balen took action against Koirala in response to recent reports that the Education Committee of Kathmandu Metropolis had granted permission for the operation of 10+2 classes at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Secondary School, Kathmandu.

The Mayor’s office has directed Koirala to provide a clarification within seven days and to take leave during this period.

It has been revealed that Koirala forged the minutes and issued a letter granting permission to Ratna Rajya School without obtaining the consent of the Education Committee, which is mandated to decide on such matters.

The school has commenced Grade 11 classes based on the ‘consent,’ and currently, there are 22 students enrolled in Grade 11.
