KASKI:Football enthusiasts are in for an exciting match today as Sankata Club and Tribhuvan Army Club gear up to face off in the second quarter-final of the Aaha-Rara Gold Cup tournament.

The eagerly anticipated clash, hosted in Pokhara, will determine which team secures a coveted spot in the semifinals.

In the previous quarter-final fixture on Saturday, Three Star Club exhibited their prowess by defeating Paro Football Club from Bhutan with a convincing 2-0 victory, earning their place in the tournament’s semifinals.

The Aaha-Rara Gold Cup, an annual event, kicked off on January 23, showcasing thrilling football action. The competition boasts a total of 12 participating teams, including a team from Bhutan, all competing at the esteemed Pokhara Stadium.

The stakes are high in this prestigious tournament, with a substantial trophy prize of Rs. 1.2 million in cash awaiting the eventual winner, as confirmed by Keshavraj Baral, the chairperson of Sahara Club, the organizing body.

Additionally, the runner-up team will be awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 601,000.
