Balen, Harka and Gopal boycott NA election



KATHMANDU: Three independent people’s representatives – Balendra Shah, Harka Sampang, and Gopal Hamal — boycotted the voting for National Assembly members conducted on Thursday.

The Election Commission confirmed their non-participation in the voting process, which took place between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM across all seven provinces today.

Kathmandu Mayor Balen, Dharan Mayor Sampang and Dhangadhi Mayor Gopal, all independent people’s representatives, boycotted the elections.

Citing the absence of suitable candidates with independent affiliations in the National Assembly, these representatives expressed their decision to abstain from voting.

Given that all the candidates in the National Assembly belong to political parties, Balen, Harka, and Gopal found themselves without a fitting choice to cast their votes for.
