Dozens feared trapped in building fire in Mumbai

MUMBAI: More than 60 people have been rescued from a building which caught fire in India’s commercial capital Mumbai. Some 100 people were trapped on the terrace of the nine-story telephone exchange building in Bandra area of the city.

Chief Fire Officer Prabhat Rahangdale told Press Trust of India news agency: “More than 60 people have been rescued. Rescue and fire fighting operations are still underway.”

Fourteen fire tenders are at work to douse the blaze. The rescue operations are still underway to save the remaining people.
