SEE to be held from March 28 to April 9

KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board (NEB) has decided to hold this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) from March 28 to April 9, 2024.

Board Chairman, Dr. Mahashram Sharma, said that the decision was made to conduct the SEE examination only after the conclusion of the Holi festival, which falls on March 24 and 25.

Despite the initial plan to hold the SEE exam in the second week of March, the Holi festival necessitated a postponement.

A significant number of students, totaling 4,89,444, have registered for this year’s SEE examination.

Among them, 246,000 are male students, and 243,440 are female students.

In a policy change, starting from this year, the NEB will categorize students who fail to achieve a minimum of 35 percent marks in each subject as non-graded.

Dr. Mahashram Sharma said, “From this year onwards, scoring a minimum of 35 percent in each subject in SEE is mandatory. Failing to achieve this threshold will result in ineligibility for admission to Grade 11.”

He informed that the NG (non-grade) system will now be implemented in SEE for students falling short of the specified marks in any subject.
