Will hit streets if govt continues attacking democracy: Deuba



KATHMANDU: President of main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has warned of strong agitation against the government if the Media Council Bill and Bill to Amend National Human Rights Commission Act were not amended.

Speaking at a program organized by Martyrs Memorial Academy to mark 37th Memorial Day of BP Koirala in the capital today, President Deuba said his party would hit the streets if the government continued attacking the democracy.

Deuba expressed belief that the country would prosper only through socialism-based  democratic political system.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi claimed that the federal democratic republic can be taken forward only through the democratic socialism postulated by BP Koirala against the authoritarian administrative rule of communists.

Meanwhile, NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma also cast light on the contribution made by BP Koirala in the field of politics and literature.
