DHARAN: Amidst escalating tensions at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, Mayor Harka Sampang has penned a letter to Health Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet, seeking the minister’s intervention in resolving the conflict.

In his communication to Health Minister Basnet, Mayor Sampang urged him to address the situation by summoning the institute’s acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Prahlad Karki, to provide an immediate explanation.

The Mayor cited the removal of various department heads by Vice Chancellor Karki as an example of engaging in unauthorized activities.

Furthermore, Mayor Sampang highlighted in the letter that Vice Chancellor Karki had conducted irregular activities, such as dismissing Executive Committee members, instead of addressing the concerns of employees and medical staff. Sampang accused the acting Vice Chancellor of acquiring authoritative powers for himself without following proper procedures.

The letter underscores the adverse impact on medical services due to ongoing protests against Vice Chancellor Karki.

Mayor Sampang expressed concerns about compromised healthcare services and urged the Health Minister to take immediate action to restore order at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
