KATHMANDU: A young man from Lamjung, enlisted in the Russian army for deployment in the Russia-Ukraine war, has tragically passed away.

According to information provided by Dudhpokhari-1 Ward Chairman Durgaman Gurung, the demise of 32-year-old Sajan Gurung in the Russia-Ukraine war has been confirmed.

The family received the news of Sajan’s death, who had joined the Russian army for employment, just five days ago, as shared by the Ward Chairman.

Chairman Gurung mentioned that Sajan’s friends in Russia initially conveyed the news to his brother, Kumar Gurung, who then informed the family in Nepal. Kumar relayed the news from Germany, and the family conducted the final rites on January 14.

While in Nepal, Sajan served as the Young Communist League (YCL) Chairman of Dudhpokhari rural municipality. He had left for Russia three months earlier.
