Safeguarding constitution need of the hour: PM Dahal



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized that safeguarding the constitution and strengthening the federal democratic republican system are the need of the hour.

In a message delivered on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, also known as Makar Sankranti and Maghi, PM Dahal stated that the incumbent government is advancing with a focus on good governance, prosperity, and social justice.

Highlighting that the constitution recognizes the country’s diverse ethnicities, languages, religions, and cultures, the PM stressed the importance of working collectively to build a prosperous Nepal by strengthening various ethnicities, languages, and cultures.

He expressed confidence that the festival would significantly contribute to strengthening national unity, fostering goodwill, and respecting each other’s identity and diverse cultures.

Extending greetings on the festival, which goes by different names and is observed by various communities, the Head of the Government mentioned that Nepal’s diversity and richness in ethnicity, languages, and cultures are sources of pride and common assets.

Dahal asserted that Maghe Sankranti holds special significance based on the culture and characteristics of Khas-Arya, Magar, Rai, Tharu, Limbu, Newar, Gurung, Maithali, Kumal, and other tribes.

According to him, the Maghi festival serves as a testament to the cultural identity and diversity of Nepal, validating the ethnic identity of different communities, traditional institutions, customs, the coexistence of cultural diversity, and national unity.
