Top leaders from ruling coalition and main opposition party convene at Sheetal Niwas

KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the ruling coalition and the main opposition parties are engaged in a meeting initiated by President Ramchandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas, the official residence of the President.

Present at Sheetal Niwas are Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and the chairman of the main opposition party CPN-UML, K P Oli.

The discussion among the top leaders has been underway at Sheetal Niwas for the past hour, coinciding with the 302nd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah and National Unity Day.

Earlier, the top leaders had attended the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) organized tea reception.

RPP, which has been advocating for constitutional monarchy and a Hindu nation, convinced the parties advocating for a republic state to mark late King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s birth anniversary as National Unity Day.
