Sarlahi District Court orders judicial custody for Ram Bahadur Bamjan

SARLAHI: The District Court Sarlahi, under the jurisdiction of Judge Bishnu Prasad Regmi, issued a directive to incarcerate Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who identifies himself as an ascetic, in connection with a child abuse case.

Following Bamjan’s arrest in Kathmandu on Tuesday night, Judge Regmi’s bench has mandated that the self-proclaimed ‘ascetic’ Bamjan be placed in judicial custody for a preliminary investigation.

Bamjan provided his statement during a court session held at the Sarlahi District Court on Thursday.

Kailash Dahal, the head of the Sarlahi District Public Prosecutor’s Office, advocated for the court order to remand Bamjan in jail.

In a counterargument, more than half a dozen lawyers represented Bamjan’s interests during the proceedings.

Following a thorough deliberation of both sides, Judge Regmi issued the order for Bamjan to be placed in prison pending further investigation.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police facilitated Bamjan’s transfer to the Sarlahi District Police Office in Malangwa at 2 o’clock in the night.
